Meet the founders of Slate Racing. Slate Racing was founded by 5 Canadian women working in the motorsports paddock. Coming together from different teams and various racing background to form one united team, dedicated to creating more opportunities and visibility within the racing industry.

Along with being a founding member of Slate Racing, Ellen Sanders is the co-owner and the operations manager of Sanders Motorsport. In 2023 Sanders Motorsport competed in FEL SCCC, Canada’s top level of sports car racing, as well as Blue Marble Radical Cup North America.
Additionally, Ellen works in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, as the tire manager for a GT4 team.

Megan Tomlinson races an Audi TCR Gen 2 in the FEL Sports Car Canada Championship presented by Michelin, Canada’s top level of sportscar racing. She has a background in sprint racing and endurance racing, competing in SPC, WRL and in FEL SCCC where she earned multiple podiums in the TCA class, finishing 4th overall in the 2023 series.

Erika raced the McLaren 570s GT4 car in the UK’s GT Cup Championship. She is the winner of the ’22 Formula Woman International competition, placing 1st out of 1000 drivers from 35 countries. Erika also represented Canada at the FIA International RallyStar competition placing 3rd out of all female finalists from North and South America.

Following her success in the Spec Miata Challenge Series at Calabogie Motorsports Park, Megan Leahy will compete in the inaugural Miata Canada Cup Series for 2024, as well as the Miata Challenge Series.
As a certified teacher, Megan is also the Director of the Slate Racing Internship Program, dedicated to equipping women who are pursuing careers in motorsports.

Morgan Smillie is Slate Racing’s Director of Analytics. Working as a strategist and the team’s lead communications specialist over race weekends. Morgan also has a strong background as a motorsport marshal, winning the Director’s Choice Award for Best Marshall 2023 at Calabogie Motorsport Park.
